How to activate a true dynamic Fog War

Hi everybody,
I don't speak german, so i will ask my question in english :hey:

Actually in Anno 1404 the fog war is just a thing to hide the map at the begining of the game. Step by step, ships discovered the map.
Once the map fully explored we can see évery unit, building, ship for every player on the map. Too easy :hey:

I would like to keep a dynamic fog war to hide all opposing units out of range of my personal building / ship / unit / town.
For exemple, all the ennemy ships far away would be hidden until they arrive near my own ships or buildings.

Like Starcraft or a lot of other RTS game.

Is there a mod or something to activate this kind of true dynamic fog war ?

Hi Chris,

i don't know any mods like this. the fog of war is still a part of the engine within the game. maybe you can find some information in files at \data\system\ but i'm not sure, because there are many files written with C++ and many words about DirectX.
I can read something about C++ but technical terms of graphic and directX are like technical jargon for me.

Within \ai\cslapi.xml you can find a lot of API functions to control the gameplay, but to less functions to control the engine.

IAAM 1404 funktioniert nicht? IAAM Testtool verrät uns ob etwas nicht richtig installiert ist.

Discovery map

Give him a name in the World _Editor, and ...
load the game in "Tool One"

sroll left donw to "Balancing" and click of + "EndlessGamePresets",
than + of "Custom",
and now scroll down to: "DisoveredMap" and chanche to True.


That is all, and you can see all islands in your world. :up:

So that´s the wrong way for this projekt.

Das was du vorgeschlagen hast , ist nur der weg um den nebel sofort aufzudecken. Nicht ihn wieder herzustellen usw...
