There are no venetian islands in the island catalog. The few existing venetian islands are hardcoded into the scenarios. You can extract them from a savegame with the editor if you wish to create a map with one or more venetian cities.

I wonder why I did not see any Venetian island tn the "Northern" island download?
I thought perhaps it might be that there would be a special collection of islands for Venetians and Pirates. That idea went down the tubes because the pirates have been included in all groups.
I hope for the last two groups (Southern & Tundra) to come soon.
In any case, thanks for shareing with the language impared.

islands are in the island catalog rather than in just the scenarios (the "scenarios" being understood to include the Endless Games)?

no.
1: you need several screen shots of one island.
2: you add the different screenshots to one image of the island, using image editing software like ulead photoimpact.

Both methods were probably applied. Some scenarios simply contain something like the command "Get me 5 cultures into the map". In this case, 5 islands with some culture on them are randomly picked from the island catalog. There probably are scenarios where islands with cutlures are hardcoded into the file in order to insure that the same culture on the same island is always present. Again, these "hardcoded" islands may have originated from the island catalog available or from the extensive island collection that the designers have (the available islands in the catalog are only a small part of all the islands ever created by the designers).
